Grouping by Plucky

One of my favorite features of Qoole is it's grouping feature. It is uniquely laided out and very well done. In this tutorial lesson I will show you the basics of grouping functions in Qoole.

To use grouping in Qoole you must first select a brush that you would like to include in the group (which brush you choose makes no difference as long as you want it in the group).
After you have selected the first brush you want in your group, bring up the mouse menu (is there a technical term for this thing?) and go down to the 'object' header which brings up another menu and toward the bottom of this menu it has the grouping functions, 'group add to' 'group finish' and 'ungroup'. Click the 'group add to' header and your selected brush should turn an orange color.

After you have done that, select the next brush you want in the group and do the same thing (bring up the mouse menu and click 'group add to') continue doing this until you have added all of the brushes you want in your group.

Now you are ready to complete your group. (after you have added all the brushes you want in it) Bring up the mouse menu again, and this time click 'group finish'. You will see that all the brushes that were previously orange have turned red (as they would appear while selected) They are now a group. When you select one of these brushes, they all will select automatically. Try it, select a different brush so that you don't have the group selected any more, then select one of the brushes of the group and you will see that all the brushes you designated as being in the group automatically get selected!
Now it's time to learn how to use the 'ungroup' command, this is the simplest of all of the grouping commands. Just select your group, and while it's selected, bring up the mouse menu and click the 'ungroup' button. You will see that all of the brushes that were previously grouped together aren't any more and you can select them individually once again. It's as simple as that.

Now that you are enlightened in the powerful grouping functions of Qoole, go ahead and try it out some more, make big groups make small groups, group everything you can get your grubby little fingers on!! And hey, why don't you try hitting the 'scope down/up' buttons while you have a group selected and see what they do....

Be on the lookout for a review of Qoole on Qlen (Quake Level Editing News) sometime in the near future!

This tutorial brought to you by your friendly neighborhood Qlen webmaster, Brian 'Plucky' Ploeckelman, cheers!
